Welcome

The Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Irvine (ITS-Irvine)

The Institute of Transportation Studies at UC Irvine (ITS-Irvine) is an Organized Research Unit (ORU), established to foster research, education, and training in the field of transportation. A fundamental goal of the Institute is the stimulation and dissemination of interdisciplinary research on contemporary transportation issues. ITS-Irvine research typically involves faculty associates and students at all levels from the Henry Samueli School of Engineering, the School of Social Sciences, the School of Social Ecology, the School of Medicine, the Program in Public Health, the Paul Merage School of Business, the School of Law, the Bren School of Information and Computer Science, and others. Select high school and community college students to participate in our research, and we welcome industry, community members, visiting academics, and prospective students at all levels to our campus visits, programming, and other events.  ITS-Irvine is pleased to host visiting scholars from the U.S. and abroad to facilitate cooperative research and information exchange, and sponsors seminars, conferences and colloquia to disseminate research results and share careers and educational opportunities in the field of transportation. Our faculty and staff hold leadership positions in local, regional, state, and national committees and professional societies, and we are a proud partner in the USDOT Pacific Southwest Region University Transportation Center (PSR, one of ten federally designated regional University Transportation Research Centers) and in the USDOT University Transportation Center for Automated Vehicles Research with Multimodal Assured Navigation (CARMEN+, a Tier One University Transportation Research Center).  We are also a member of the California Statewide Transportation Research Program funded by the State of California, and of the US Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC).
