Zak Kassas (BS, LAU; MS, OSU; MS, PhD, UT-Austin) is an Associate Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UCI. His research interests include cyber-physical systems, autonomous vehicles, navigation systems, sstimation theory, ntelligent transportation systems, cognitive and software-defined radio, and target tracking. Dr. Kassas is the Director of the CARMEN UTC (2020) focused on issues of Positioning, Navigation, and Timing in transportation systems. Among a number of awards, his most recent is the 2019 Office of Naval Research (ONR) Young Investigator Program (YIP) award for his work on “I Hear, Therefore I Know Where I Am: Exploiting Signals of Opportunity for Robust and Accurate Navigation in GPS-Denied Environments. “
