Responsible for ITS systems administration and management (including consultation, direct user support, interaction with other systems and network administrators, vendor contacts, and technology assessment). Purchase computer equipment/hardware and software as needed by the department. Serve as technical expert and the systems manager, providing hardware/software assistance (technical support) on multiple servers and PC systems. Manage the ITS computer center; troubleshooting a wide range of problems related to computers, peripheral devices, and software on UNIX and PC systems. Manages Oracle database capabilities, and assists in the specification, design and development of the databases associated with the ITS ATMS Laboratory. Manage the ITS ATMS Laboratories and Video teleconferencing Facility. Responsible for the integration of ITS communications and computer systems with campus and external systems, a highly complex and sophisticated communications network that links UCI laboratories to a number of different outside agencies. Develops and maintains the departmental Web page and the ITS Testbed Web page. Maintain and manage all computer-related accounts in ITS. Give direction to the assistant.
