Angela Yun earned her PhD in Urban and Environmental Planning and Public Policy at UC Irvine’s School of Social Ecology. As a graduate student researcher at ITS, Angela’s research focused on zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) charging infrastructure and equitable deployment. She worked closely alongside Professor Matt Dean on “charging-as-a-service” business models before graduating in December 2025.
After graduating, Angela began her career as a researcher at RAND corporation, a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) supporting U.S. government agencies. Angela previously served as a RAND Summer Associate in 2023, where she conducted Air Force–related research. She’s collaborated with engineers, economists, cybersecurity, political scientists, and environmental researchers on projects concerned with defense, security, energy, the environment, strategic planning, and infrastructure.
During her free time, Angela enjoys volunteering at a local animal shelter, spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, and playing recreational volleyball. Her passion for public transportation is rooted in a desire to build community. She credits ITS for providing her with an opportunity to conduct research spanning disciplines and areas of expertise.
Research interests: zero-emission vehicles, ports transition, defense-related shipping issues, transportation infrastructure, workforce development, energy systems, and environmental impacts.
